US Department of Education Neglected and Delinquent Technical Assistance Center: subcontractor to American Institute for Research responsible for specific contract tasks including: planning and developing a survey of State agencies that receive Part D, Subpart 1 funds and reporting findings; conducting monitoring activities; supporting collaboration activities; and conducting an annual evaluation of the Technical Assistance Center’s activities.

Transportation Security Administration: developed and delivered customized project management capacity building services to support the implementation of a new online project management system.

National Institute of Standards and Technology: subcontractor to FloridaMakes responsible for developing a three-year project plan that operationalize the approved grant activities; developed stakeholder management strategies and templates to ensure timely and effective communication and progress reporting.

State - Case Studies

Puerto Rico: multi-year engagement to assist in the design, planning and implementation of education re- form initiatives consistent with Flexibility Waivers for the Elementary and Secondary Education Act; provide expert advice on the development and use of formative assessments, creation of school and district-level improvement strategies and educator evaluation systems; design and deliver customized workshops to expand capacity to use data driven decision making practices; project management support to ensure timely and compliant execution of Title I and Title III programs; developed performance management dashboards to improve SEA oversight of district operations.

Texas: serve as independent reviewer of open-enrollment charter applications; analyze grant applications, apply standardized scoring rubrics; write clear appraisals and provide comments and technical feedback to each applicant.

Local Education Agencies - Case Studies

Buffalo Public Schools: provide technical assistance to district and school staff to understand the School Improvement Grant requirements and develop approvable grant applications; provide expert guidance to ensure the incorporation of data driven decision making practices, differentiated instruction, collaborative planning, instructional coaching and leadership development; recommend specific performance metrics and management strategies to track and monitor progress.

Detroit Education Achievement Authority: provide technical assistance to district staff to develop the administrative processes and managerial infrastructure to ensure successful implementation of Teacher Incentive Fund grants; clarify grant requirements, provide recommendations for using project management to enhance planning and monitoring activities; develop strategies to promote the sustainability of grant activities.

Broward Public Schools: provide technical assistance to district staff to improve grants management practices, build capacity to meet federal fiscal and programmatic reporting requirements; develop systems to facilitate knowledge transfer for new staff; create strategies to link grants management to district-wide performance management system.

Lynchburg City Schools: review and make recommendations for revising the district strategic plan; develop strategies to modify existing programs to resolve compliance issues; research models for year-round school, conduct community-engagement forums, analyze current operating practices and make recommendations for modifications to the school calendar.

Nonprofit - Case Studies

Academic Development Institute: multi-year engagement related to: 1) developing a strategy and executing a plan to solicit financial support from various foundations, corporations, and other potential funders; 2) designing and managing a virtual coaching line of business to support school improvement work in states and school districts; 3) conducting research and develop a strategy to support states ability to develop a State Systemic Improvement Plan (SSIP) and 4) providing technical assistance to states as part of the Building State Capacity and Productivity Center managed by Edvance Research.

Florida Center for Advanced Manufacturing Excellence: develop a model for evaluating the effectiveness of US Department of Labor workforce development investments in the manufacturing sector; make recommendations improving the use of state and federal funds to support CareerSource Florida’s training grant investments; make recommendations for improving future grant applications; and design a project plan to implement the evaluation in 2016.

Flamboyan Foundation: multi-year engagement related to 1) the development of an i3 Innovation grant application to support family engagement in DC schools; 2) the creation of organizational, team and individual performance measures; 3) the development of strategic plans and execution strategies to support education and philanthropic giving in Puerto Rico; 4) the creation of annual budgets; and 5) analyses of organizational operations and recommendations for improving efficiency and effectiveness.

Corporate - Case Studies

ECRA: provide business development support for ECRA’s education management services including superintendent searches, strategic planning, data warehousing and analytics, and program evaluation.

TeachBoost: provide business development support for TeachBoost’s educator evaluation and feedback platform designed to engage teachers and administrators in an ongoing, evolving dialogue that fosters the development of effective educators and improved student outcomes.
